Link to our collaborative partner: The Southern Baptist Convention
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs held conversations with the Southern Baptist Convention from 1978 to 2001. The Southern Baptist Convention-Catholic Conversations discussed issues such as the environment, poverty, racism, life, and sickness, disability, and healing. It's last round, which began in 1995, discussed issues pertaining to scripture and salvation.
Although no official dialogue exists between the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Southern Baptist Convention at this time, the Conference remains open to dialogue and welcomes a collaborative relationship on ad hoc projects of common interest. On such projects, Rev. John Crossin, OSFS, represents the Secretariat of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs.
