The African American Churches

Link to their ecclesial bodies: The African Methodist Episcopal Church, the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, the Church of God in Christ, the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc., the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.

The primary relationships with the African American Baptist, Methodist and Pentecostal churches is through the Faith and Order Commission of the National Council of Churches. (Paulist: Growing Consensus)


The Pentecostal, Holiness and Evangelical Churches

Link to this organization: The Society for Pentecostal Studies

The primary conversations with theologians from these churches occurs in the Faith and Order Commission. There are also relationships with the Society for Pentecostal Studies and the National Association of Evangelicals. Some dioceses have developed these dialogues which have not yet been able to emerge on a national level with the USCCB.


The Mennonite, Brethren Churches, the Society of Friends, and the Bruderhof Community

The primary relationships with the historic peace churches takes place in the context of the Faith and Order Commission.


The Christian Church/Disciples of Christ

There is an international dialogue with this American born church, cosponsored by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. The primary relationship of the USCCB to the Disciples is through the Faith and Order Commission, and other less formal relationships.


The National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA

A variety of relationships are in place, in bible translation, education, social justice and common witness through a variety of offices in the USCCB and other Catholic entities. The BCEIA relates directly to Faith and Order Commission and indirectly to Ecumenical Networks Commission, which serves the local ecumenical relations around the country.
